ATLAS NG obtains NDI Certification

October 22, 2026.

PROMAX R&D laboratories have worked in close collaboration with NDI Labs on comprehensive testing of the ATLAS NG and ATLAS IP broadcast analyzers. As a result of this joint engineering effort, the ATLAS series broadcast analyzers are now NDI Certified.

ATLAS NG is an NDI certified equipment
The ATLAS NG and ATLAS IP broadcast analyzers analyze SRT, DASH, HLS, and ST2110 streaming protocols. The latest firmware version adds certified support for the NDI protocol on demand.

The ATLAS broadcast analyzers integrate NDI signal monitoring alongside support for protocols including SRT, DASH, HLS, IPTV, and ST 2110. Key features include:

  • Real-time IP Auditing: Jitter, bit rate, and packet loss measurements.
  • On-screen Decoding: 4K UHD video (H.265, 10-bit) and audio monitoring for up to 16 channels.
  • Hybrid Analysis: RF spectrum analyzer up to 6 GHz, eye diagram for 3G-SDI, optical and ASI-TS interfaces.
  • Field-ready Design: Rugged chassis, 10.1-inch touchscreen, and a battery run time exceeding 4 hours.

This official approval positions the ATLAS NG and ATLAS IP s essential tools for quality control in professional broadcasting—across both legacy infrastructures and All-IP environments.

Diagnostic and Measurement tools

Transitioning from SDI to IP infrastructure requires monitoring new network-level metrics. Issues like packet loss, jitter, and frame arrival variance affect both Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE). Dedicated IP network and hardware field analyzers are essential. PROMAX's ATLAS analyzers combine both functionality sets into one device, reducing hardware costs and streamlining field workflows through a single user interface.

Specifically, the NDI analysis tool allows operators to discover active streams, monitor video feeds, measure audio/loudness metrics, and track received and lost frames in real time.

The NDI protocol and its applications

The shift to IP networks in media production has accelerated the deployment of NewTek's NDI (Network Device Interface) protocol. NDI enables low-latency live video and audio transport over standard Gigabit Ethernet local networks. In contrast to SMPTE ST 2110, it eliminates the need for extremely high-bandwidth network gear while offering automated stream discovery and simplified routing.

The protocol utilizes multiple high-efficiency codecs optimized for video and audio contribution, including high-bandwidth NDI (NDI HB) and lower-bandwidth options such as H.264/H.265/AAC/Opus (NDI HX2, NDI HX3)
