The DUCT law 20.808 effective in Chile since September 2018 is a regulation that opens up the process of contracting a telecommunications services provider (pay-per-view television, phone, Internet, optical fiber...) and enables final consumers to choose the provider of their choice. This makes obsolete the agreements that forced final consumers to contract the telecommunications provider chosen by their building manager.
The law standardizes the features of the internal telecommunications network in condominiums and buildings. Project managers and engineers must carry out the DUCT project implementation according to defined requirements that must be checked with measuring instruments according to the technology that is being installed.
